New Delhi: 24 years ago today, terrorists targeted the Indian Parliament with bombs. Many of our brave soldiers were martyred while fighting the terrorists. Today marks the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attack on Parliament, where everyone is paying tribute to the memory of the brave soldiers.

PM Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the martyred soldiers by laying flowers. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also remembered the sacrifices of the soldiers and paid tribute.

CISF personnel also paid tribute

Hardly anyone has forgotten the dark day of December 13, 2011, when Pakistani-backed terrorists targeted the Parliament. A condolence meeting was held today in the Constitution House to commemorate the attack. CISF personnel performed the “Guard of Honour,” followed by a few minutes of silence.

Previously, until 2023, CRPF personnel used to perform the “Arms of Salute.” But now, CISF personnel also pay tribute to their sacrifices. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with several other senior leaders, paid tribute to the martyred soldiers.

Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Jitendra Singh, and Arjun Ram Meghwal were among those paying tribute. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended the condolence meeting held in Latur.

How many people lost their lives in this attack?

For information, it’s worth noting that on December 13, 2011, five armed terrorists entered the Parliament House. Security forces deployed at the Parliament House risked their lives to prevent the terrorists from entering. Nine people, including six Delhi Police personnel and two Parliament Security Force personnel, lost their lives in this horrific terrorist attack, including a TV journalist.
