The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in most states across the nation until May 5. According to the department, wind speeds in some states could reach up to 70 km per hour. However, the rainfall is expected to lead to a decline in maximum temperatures. Conversely, some states are currently experiencing the brunt of severe heat.

The IMD has predicted that weather conditions will remain adverse across Northwest India until May 6. Additionally, a warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, anticipating light to moderate rainfall and snowfall between May 2 and May 6. Regarding Delhi-NCR, the region has recently witnessed heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and even hailstorms in several areas. This has resulted in a noticeable drop in temperatures. The spell of thunderstorms, rain, hailstorms, and strong winds is expected to continue for the next week.

In its latest bulletin, the IMD has stated that during this week, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India are likely to experience very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Furthermore, an alert regarding lightning strikes has been issued for North, East, Central, and South India.

Heavy Rain Warning for Northeast India

The IMD reports that widespread rainfall is forecast for the northeastern states over the next 5–6 days. Heavy rainfall is likely in Assam and Meghalaya on May 2 and 3. A heavy rain warning has been issued for Arunachal Pradesh for April 30 and May 1. Additionally, the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall has been indicated for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until May 2. Hailstorm in Kerala and Karnataka

Heavy rainfall is forecast for Kerala, Mahe, and Tamil Nadu between May 1 and May 2. An alert for heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstorms has been issued for South Interior Karnataka for May 1. Alerts have also been issued for North and Coastal Karnataka in view of heavy rains accompanied by lightning expected until May 1. Rain and strong winds are anticipated in Telangana and Rayalaseema until May 4.

The weather in Punjab appears to be shifting. In several districts, cloud movement has intensified, and rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been forecast. Over the next 24 hours, the region may witness storms and heavy rainfall. The rain has led to a drop in temperature, providing people with relief from the heat.

What will the weather be like in UP?
From Western UP all the way to Purvanchal, storm and rainfall activity appear to be intensifying rapidly. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for several districts. There is a possibility of hailstorms and lightning strikes in the Bundelkhand region and the eastern districts. Furthermore, dust storms are likely in various locations over the coming hours.
