Saudi Arabia-Pakistan Defence Deal: After being decimated by India following the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan is now struggling from door to door. Struggling with economic hardship, Pakistan also faces a significant threat from India. On Wednesday, Pakistan established significant ties with Saudi Arabia. The two countries have agreed on a significant security agreement.

This means that both countries have signed a security pact. The most important aspect of this agreement, called the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement, is that an attack on one country will be considered an attack on both. According to some media reports, this agreement was reached during Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia. During this visit, Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Riyadh on a state visit. There, he was welcomed by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman at Al-Yamama Palace.

According to a report in Dawn, one of Pakistan’s leading newspapers, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement clarifying that any aggression would be considered against both countries. The joint statement also stated that this agreement is based on eight decades of ties, brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, and shared strategic interests.

This agreement aims to deepen defense cooperation and strengthen joint deterrence against any attack. It was clearly stated that an attack on one country will be considered an action against both countries.

Where is Shahbaz Sharif visiting?

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who has been vocal about Kashmir, is currently visiting the Gulf countries. He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Ataullah Tardar, Environment Minister Musadik Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

This is believed to be Shahbaz Sharif’s third visit to the Gulf within a week. He previously visited Qatar twice, on September 11 and 15. He also attended an emergency meeting of Arab and Islamic countries in support of the Hamas leadership following the Israeli attack.
