Opposition Launches Campaign Against Tarique Rahman Before Swearing-In, Demands This

New Delhi: After days of turmoil in Bangladesh, today is a significant day for the country, as it will receive a newly elected government. Following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s landslide victory, Tariq Rahman will be sworn in as Prime Minister and take office today.

His swearing-in ceremony is being discussed worldwide, as Bangladesh has long been a target of political hatred, with ordinary citizens facing the most hardship. Many global figures, including India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, are arriving to attend Tariq Rahman’s ceremony.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, opposition parties, which suffered disastrously in the Bangladesh elections, have launched a campaign. They have begun preparations for a parallel shadow cabinet to monitor Tariq Rahman and curb his arbitrary actions.

Opposition suffers a landslide defeat in the elections

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party secured a landslide victory, forcing the opposition to the brink of collapse. Despite the victory, the opposition is left with only a handful of seats. Opposition parties have raised the idea of forming a shadow cabinet. The discussion began with leaders who lost elections or whose parties won very few seats.

National Citizen Party spokesperson Asif Mehmood Shoaib wrote on Facebook that they were preparing to form a shadow cabinet. This shadow cabinet would monitor the government, ensuring transparency and accountability to the public.

Similarly, Shishir Munir, who contested the elections on a Jamaat-e-Islami ticket, posted on Facebook that “there should be innovation in politics. Let the ruling party form its own cabinet. Then the opposition should also have a shadow cabinet. There should be ample debate inside and outside Parliament. Only then will creative leadership develop.

Om Birla from India will attend

Indian Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will be a guest at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected government of Bangladesh. Initially, there were speculations that PM Narendra Modi would attend, but later, Om Birla’s name was confirmed. Following the violence that erupted during the Jain-Ji movement in Bangladesh, incidents of targeting minorities were reported. The new government is expected to make major decisions to establish stability in the country and bridge communal divides.
