Monsoon Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted dense fog in Delhi-NCR and several parts of North India for the next few days on Sunday. However, today, January 5th, the skies are clear in Delhi-NCR, but the intense cold continues. A drop in temperatures and continued cold are expected from Monday. The IMD predicts a cold wave in parts of several states, including Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana, on January 5th. A cold wave is also possible in West Rajasthan from January 5th to 9th, East Rajasthan from January 5th to 10th, and parts of Jharkhand from January 6th to 7th. The IMD said that due to a cyclonic circulation forming in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rainfall is possible until January 9th. Let’s find out which states are likely to experience rain.

The IMD predicts clear skies in Delhi. Light fog is expected in some areas, and moderate fog in others. However, weather conditions will improve throughout the day.
Weather conditions in Rajasthan
According to the Meteorological Centre, cold-day and cold-wave conditions were observed in parts of East Rajasthan over the past 24 hours. The Meteorological Centre said that cold conditions are likely to persist in some parts of the state for the next few days, and visibility may be affected due to fog in some areas in the morning.

Rain and snowfall are expected in these states
According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are likely across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on January 5th and 6th. Similar weather conditions are also expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on January 5th. The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in some areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during January 7th and 8th. Rain Warning for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
The Meteorological Department predicts a drop in temperature in Tamil Nadu in the coming days. According to the local meteorological department, light rainfall has been recorded in some parts of the state. Due to a cyclonic circulation over the South Bay of Bengal, intermittent light rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal in the coming days. Along with the rain, night temperatures are also likely to fall.

Airline Advisory
IndiGo, in its advisory, stated, “Due to low visibility and fog in Bhopal and Udaipur, flight schedules may be affected. We are closely monitoring the weather and are doing everything we can to get you safely and smoothly to your destination.” The airline further added, “Please keep checking your flight status through our website or app.”
