Monsoon Update: Weather across the country is changing rapidly. Several states are experiencing intense cold. The IMD (India Meteorological Department) has issued a rain alert for several parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department predicts that from December 18th to 22nd, thunderstorms and rain are possible across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep. Meanwhile, dense fog, cold waves, and extreme cold have exacerbated difficulties for people in Delhi-NCR and the surrounding plains. Even after the monsoon’s departure, the spell of rain will continue in several states, leading to another change in the weather pattern. Snowfall in Kashmir, Himachal, and Uttarakhand

In the Kashmir Valley, the 40-day coldest period, ‘Chilla-i-Kalan’, began on Sunday. During this period, the valley experiences heavy snowfall, and temperatures remain below freezing, causing water sources to freeze. Snowfall is also continuing in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Saturday was the coldest day of this winter season in Delhi. Cold waves and fog have affected daily life in several states, including Punjab, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Dense fog and slow traffic were observed in several districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Heavy Rain Warning in These States

According to the Meteorological Department, due to weather changes, heavy rainfall is expected across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Karnataka, Karaikal, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mahe, Puducherry, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh over the next four days. People living in these areas have been advised to remain vigilant.

Rain and Fog Warning

Cold weather has begun in Rajasthan. However, the cold is currently affecting only the morning and the evening. The Meteorological Department has stated that the cold spell will continue in the state, but there is no possibility of a cold wave yet. However, due to the activation of a new weather system on December 21st, a rain warning has been issued for several areas of Rajasthan. Additionally, fog is possible in several districts in the morning.

Rain Warning in These States
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall with thunderstorms from December 21 to 23 in Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep. Additionally, heavy rain and snowfall are possible in isolated areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on December 21. The IMD has issued an alert for isolated rainfall or snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on December 21. Strong winds are also possible in some areas. The Meteorological Department predicts light rain at isolated places in Punjab on December 21.
