Delhi Weather: The heavy rain in Delhi-NCR has greatly affected normal life this morning. After the rain in Delhi, the weather has become delightful. The people of Delhi have also been relieved from the heat caused by the rain. Along with this, there has also been a drop in temperature.
On the other hand, four people died due to a tree falling on a house in Zafarpur Kala, Delhi. At the same time, an iron structure fell at Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport due to strong winds. Many flights have also been affected by heavy rain. This is the second-highest rainfall recorded in 17 years (2009 to 2025) in a day in May.
Earlier on May 20, 2021, 119.3 mm of rainfall was recorded. 78.0 mm rainfall was recorded at Lodhi Road, 45.6 mm at Palam, 59.2 mm at Ridge and 39.4 mm at Aya Nagar.
Water filled on many roads of Delhi
Due to heavy rains, a lot of water has flooded Delhi’s roads. Where, some time ago, the new BJP government of Delhi was claiming to solve the problem of waterlogging, this time. But, as soon as it rained, the trouble of Delhiites increased. Like last year, water-filled sensitive places were due to waterlogging.
The work of cleaning the drains has been going on for the last several days, but the rain on Friday morning exposed their claims. Due to water filling at many places, including Minto Bridge, ITO, and Kishanganj underpass, the movement of vehicles has been greatly affected.
Water Minister inspected the drainage work
Public Works Department and Water Minister Pravesh Verma inspected the drainage work at many places. He posted on X that some amount of water has stagnated in many places due to unseasonal record rainfall. He also took stock of the situation by visiting many places since 5:30 in the morning. Considering the heavy rains, the drains are being cleaned by PWD, Municipal Corporation, Delhi Jal Board, and NDMC.
Will it rain in Delhi tomorrow?
Is there a possibility of heavy rain in Delhi-NCR in the coming days? The Meteorological Department has predicted that it is likely to be cloudy on May 3, i.e. Saturday, apart from this, winds can blow at a speed of 50-55 km/h. Temperatures can also drop due to thunderstorms. According to IMD, light drizzle and rain may occur on May 4. The maximum temperature can be around 36-38 degrees, and the minimum can be around 25-27 degrees.
