Happy 79th Independence Day 2025: On 15 August 1947, we gained independence from 200 years of British rule. Independence Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the country. Every year on August 15, the whole nation celebrates independence. This day reminds us of the great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country. On the occasion of Independence Day, people hoist the tricolour, sing patriotic songs and wish each other. The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, will hoist the national flag at the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day and, along with this, will give his 12th consecutive address to the nation.
Preparations are being seen at the Red Fort before the Prime Minister’s address. This year’s theme is ‘New India’. This year the success of Operation Sindoor will also be celebrated in the Independence Day celebrations.
Senior military officers involved in the planning and execution of Operation Sindoor, India’s military response after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, have been honoured on the eve of the 79th Independence Day.
Before the Red Fort address, PM Modi greeted the countrymen on the social media platform X and shared his vision of a ‘developed India’. He wrote on X, ” Wishing everyone a pleasant Independence Day. May this day inspire us to keep working even harder to realise the dreams of our freedom fighters and build a Viksit Bharat. Jai Hind!

On the other hand, parade rehearsals are being done before the 79th Independence Day celebrations begin. Tight security arrangements have been made in the Red Fort and its surrounding areas. More than 11,000 security personnel and 3,000 traffic policemen have been deployed.
India is all set to celebrate its 79th Independence Day today, so security has been tightened in Delhi. Prime Minister Modi will address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day.
