The epicenter of the earthquake was near New Delhi
According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was near New Delhi. Due to its epicenter being 5 kilometers below the ground, tremors were felt till Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram, Sonipat, Meerut and Bulandshahr. The loud sound that came with the earthquake scared people even more. People walking on the road also clearly felt the tremors.
Danger looms over Delhi-NCR
According to scientists, India has 5 zones according to the sensitivity of earthquakes. The Himalayas and the areas adjoining it are the most sensitive zone-5, where the danger of a major earthquake always remains. Delhi-NCR is in zone-4, which is situated on the banks of Yamuna and Hindon rivers. Due to the sandy land here, major earthquakes can also occur here, which can cause massive destruction. Especially the people living in high-rise buildings built around Yamuna are in danger.

What to do in case of an earthquake?
Stay away from high-rise buildings, pillars and trees.
If you are at home, do not run, stay calm.
If possible, come out in the open.
Do not use the lift.
If you live in a high-rise building and cannot go down immediately, then hide under a strong table or in a corner of the house.
Keep your head safe.
Do not light a fire in the kitchen. Stay away from glass, windows and walls.
