Bihar Election 2025 Update – The moment has finally arrived when voters will seal the fate of their favourite candidates in the Bihar Assembly elections. Voting will take place on Thursday in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections for 121 seats across 18 districts. 3.75 crore voters will cast their votes for 1,314 candidates in this phase.

Polling parties have already reached their polling stations. The reputation of several ministers and prominent leaders is at stake in this first phase. Voting will also take place in the seat of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate.

The fate of Bihar’s Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary will be decided in the first phase. Tejashwi Yadav has won the Raghopur seat twice in a row. If the public votes in his favour this time, he will achieve a hat-trick of victories.

The fate of several ministers is at stake in the first phase

In addition to Tejashwi Yadav, the fate of several cabinet ministers from the NDA is also at stake. Voting will take place tomorrow for the seats of both deputy chief ministers. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha is seeking his fourth consecutive victory from Lakhisarai. He faces Congress’s Amresh Kumar and Jan Suraj Kumar of the Jan Suraj Party.

Samrat Chaudhary has been nominated by the BJP from the Tarapur seat. He will face RJD’s Arun Kumar, who previously lost by a margin of just 5,000 votes. Senior BJP leader and minister Mangal Pandey is contesting the assembly elections for the first time. He is contesting from the Siwan seat. He will face a direct contest against RJD’s Awadh Bihari Chaudhary, a multiple-time MLA and former Assembly Speaker.

Which seat has the highest voter turnout?

According to the Election Commission report, among the 121 assembly seats where voting will take place in the first phase, Digha has the highest voter turnout, with approximately 4.58 lakh voters, while Barbigha has the lowest voter turnout, at 2.32 lakh. While Kurhani and Muzaffarpur have the highest number of candidates contesting, with 20 each, Bhor, Alauli, and Parbatta have the lowest number of candidates contesting, with 5 each.

How many polling stations have been set up?

According to the Election Commission, a total of 45,341 polling stations have been set up. Of these, 36,733 are in rural areas. This phase has seen 10.72 lakh new voters, while 7.38 lakh voters in the 18-19 age group have been included. The total population of these 121 seats is approximately 6.60 crore, with a total voter turnout of 3.75 crore. The total number of voters in Bihar is 7.24 crore.
