New Delhi: The government is claiming that the trade agreement between India and the United States is in the national interest, but the opposition and some organisations are calling it wrong. Some farmer organisations are also opposing the trade agreement with the United States. Meanwhile, the United Kisan Morcha has made a major announcement in protest against the India-US interim agreement.
A Bharat Bandh has been called for on February 12, 2026. During the Bharat Bandh, many farmer leaders and farmers will take to the streets. A large number of farmers are expected to gather at the call of the United Kisan Morcha.

Farmer Organisation’s Allegations
The United Kisan Morcha is displeased with the trade deal between the Indian government and the United States. The organisation alleges that this trade agreement is completely against Indian farmers and could cause huge losses to the agricultural sector. On the other hand, the central government has rejected the farmers’ organisation’s allegations.
The government stated that the agreement will fully protect the interests of farmers and the dairy sector. Hannan Mohallah, convener of the United Kisan Morcha, called it a betrayal of farmers’ trust.

The convener of the United Kisan Morcha made a significant statement.
Hannan Mollah, convener of the United Kisan Morcha, has described the central government’s trade deal with the United States as anti-farmer. He said that this trade agreement will open the Indian market to cheap American agricultural products, leaving domestic farmers behind in competition.
Calling it a betrayal of farmers, he said that the government has surrendered to American pressure. Mollah also demanded the resignation of Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. He stated that a campaign is being launched to mobilise farmers across the country from February 4th to February 11th, culminating in a Bharat Bandh on February 12th.
Farmers’ interests will be protected – Government.
Following the protests by the United Kisan Morcha, the central government has rejected the anti-farmer claims. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal defended the agreement, saying that the interests of farmers and the dairy sector have not been compromised.
He stated that dairy products such as milk, ghee, butter, cheese, and yoghurt, along with wheat, rice, corn, sorghum, barley, oats, and other coarse grains, will remain exempt from tariff concessions. He added that many vegetables, frozen foods, and spices such as pepper, cumin, turmeric, ginger, coriander, and mustard have also been protected.
The Minister categorically clarified that genetically modified (GM) food products will not be permitted under the agreement. Piyush Goyal stated that this agreement will strengthen a self-reliant India and empower domestic agriculture.
Farmers will be on the streets in many states
The announcement of the Bharat Bandh by the United Kisan Morcha is likely to hhave asignificant impact in many areas, disrupting normal life. Protests and rallies will be held in several states. However, the extent of the Bharat Bandh will only become clear on February 12th.
