Tata Motors is positioning its upcoming Tata Scarlett as a “lifestyle SUV.” Reports suggest that this rugged SUV will be based on a monocoque chassis and its design will be heavily inspired by the upcoming Tata Sierra. Due to its boxy profile and upright stance, it is being called a ‘mini Sierra’. Performance is expected to include the Nexon’s 1.2L turbo petrol (120 bhp) and the curved 1.2L TGDi (125 bhp) engines. The Sierra’s 1.5L naturally aspirated engine is also expected to be a strong option. This car will be a hit with high-end buyers who want a rugged, yet urban SUV that’s both dynamic and comfortable to drive, as an alternative to the Thar and Jimny.
Mahindra Vision S
Mahindra’s Vision S concept will ideally fill the gap between the Bolero Neo and Scorpio. This SUV will be based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, which is fully compatible with petrol, diesel, and hybrid engines. Its design will be elegant and robust, like a ‘mini Defender’, making it a strong presence on the road. It’s expected to share the XUV 3XO’s 1.5-liter diesel engine (117 bhp and 300 Nm), making it a true king of mountains and rough terrain. Inside, you’ll find impressive features like a dual-screen setup and a luxurious panoramic sunroof, giving it a premium feel, while also complementing the Bolero’s rugged image.
Rugged Lifestyle and Technology
Both SUVs will be a successful blend of ruggedness and modern technology. While the Tata Scarlett will offer impressive features like a head-up display (HUD) and connected screens, the Mahindra Vision S will be a true king of rough terrain thanks to its robust suspension and excellent ground clearance.
