Bharat Bandh on Thursday. 10 trade unions have called for a nationwide Bharat Bandh on February 12 against labor laws, agricultural policies and privatization.
30 crore workers of 10 trade unions including CITU, AITUC, INTUC, HMS, AICCTU, LPF and UTUC will participate in the nationwide strike on Thursday.
Along with opposition to the new labor law, long-standing demands like a 5-day work week have also been raised in support of the bandh.
Farmers’ organizations have also joined the bandh along with the trade unions. The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has declared full support for the nationwide strike called by CITU.
Apple farmers in Himachal have planned a march to Delhi. The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee has also announced that they will support the strike on February 12.

In this situation, the question naturally arises whether schools will be open on Thursday or not?
It is learned that schools are likely to remain open in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Chennai, and Rajasthan even during the Bharat Bandh. Unless the local authorities announce school closures!
Although normal operations have been disrupted due to the strike, there are currently no school closure orders in effect across the country.
Educational institutions will take their decisions based on a safety assessment in light of the local situation.

The same scenario is prevalent in Kolkata and the entire state of West Bengal. No school closure orders have been issued for the Bharat Bandh across the state. School authorities will take decisions based on the local situation.
So will all banks be closed today? Several major bank unions in the country have announced a strike, and naturally this may lead to disruption in services. Bank of Baroda (BoB) said that the strike has been called jointly by All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFAI).
Bank of Baroda also said that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure normal operations of its branches and offices. However, operations may be affected in the event of a strike.

Which banks will be open and which will be closed today due to the strike?
On the other hand, State Bank of India (SBI) said that it will try its best to maintain normal services, but there may be delays in services. The bank said that banking services may be affected due to the strike. IDBI Bank has also received strike notices from the unions. The bank said that operations may be disrupted during the strike. At the same time, employees of PNB i.e. Punjab National Bank can also join this strike.
Will HDFC, ICICI, Axis Bank remain open?
News agency IANS reported that since major banking unions are participating in this strike, employees of many public sector banks like State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank can join it. However, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not declared any holiday on this day.
Only employees of public sector banks are participating in this strike. Due to this, work is likely to remain normal in private banks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, RBL Bank and IDFC First Bank.
