Ganpati Visarjan Advisory: Mumbai Police has outlined the security and traffic plans for Ganpati immersion during Anant Chaturdashi. More than 21,000 police officers and 7,000 volunteers are on duty in Mumbai for this event. To handle the large crowds, the police have asked for round-the-clock train and metro services. To avoid congestion, the traffic police have arranged 84 route diversions and stationed 95 cranes for the immersion process.
A central command center and 51 watchtowers have been established to monitor 341 immersion sites across Mumbai. Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Manoj Kumar Sharma shared these details in a press briefing.
Manoj Kumar Sharma highlighted the massive turnout during Anant Chaturdashi, with over 7,000 large Ganpati idols and 9,000 major mandals. Among the 341 immersion sites, Girgaon Chowpatty is the busiest, followed by Dadar, Mahim, Versova, Powai, Juhu, and other lakes. Sharma mentioned ongoing efforts to introduce new initiatives each year, like the upgraded ramp at Versova Jetty.
Security Measures:
– Rafts are available at all immersion locations.
– Additional Police Commissioners, DCPs, ACPs, police officers, and policemen have been deployed.
– Various forces like the Delta Squad, anti-riot police, quick response team, and home guard are part of the security setup.
– A dedicated police control room will monitor the city to ensure public safety and prevent any stampedes.
Continuous Metro Service Appeal:
Mumbai Police have urged railway and metro authorities to keep services running 24/7 on Anant Chaturdashi to manage the heavy footfall. Special teams will be present to assist in preventing children from getting lost in the crowds, with medical facilities and doctors stationed at strategic points.
A new control room at Girgaon Chowpatty will provide updates to each Ganesh Mandal. Mumbai Police have assured a secure and seamless immersion procession this year as well.
The Mumbai police have appealed to devotees of Lord Ganesha to maintain discipline at crowded locations during immersion and assist the police. Citizens are urged to immediately inform the police if they spot any abandoned or suspicious items. They are also encouraged to contact the police helpline 100/112 for immediate assistance. The Mumbai police have prepared security measures extensively to ensure a peaceful and safe Ganpati immersion process.
