A popular tipster Digital Chat Station has posted on Weibo that Xiaomi is working on two Pro models this year – one regular size and the other a compact version, which is currently being called Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini. Its dimensions have not been revealed yet, but it is definitely clear that its size will be smaller than the regular Pro.
This new Mini Pro model can come with a 6.3-inch screen, while the regular Xiaomi 16 Pro will have a larger 6.8-inch display. That is, for those who are troubled by today’s big smartphones and want a smartphone that fits in the hand, comes comfortably in the pocket – Xiaomi is going to bring this new compact option for them.
A look similar to iPhone 17 Pro
The most interesting thing is that this time Xiaomi can completely change the camera design in its Pro models. It is being told that both Xiaomi 16 Pro and 16 Pro Mini – will get a large horizontal camera module, which will take up one-third of the back of the phone. Three camera cutouts are visible in all these designs, along with some extra cutouts which can be for microphones and other sensors. This also makes it clear that Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini will get three rear cameras, but special attention has been given to detailing and protection in them too.
Why was Mini Pro needed?
Now a question that is coming to everyone’s mind – when Xiaomi already launches three models in the number series, then why was there a need for another smartphone like Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini? Especially when its display size is almost the same as the standard Xiaomi 16.
One thing to understand here is that perhaps Xiaomi will remove some features from its standard 16 model, such as a camera or some premium specifications.
