TikTok Back in India: Do you think TikTok is coming back to India? A new wave of memes is going viral on social media after some users claimed that they were able to access the TikTok website even though the app is still not available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. People on X and Reddit gave some funny and witty reactions while sharing their excitement and nostalgia. Some users wrote, “TikTok website is back in India but the app is still unavailable. A wave of joy for content creators.” Another jokingly said, “Earlier there were only filters, now AI has become an influencer.” All these reactions show that TikTok fans are still missing the platform and are quite excited about this unexpected development.

But amidst this excitement, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has clarified that TikTok website is still blocked on all ISPs in India. ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has not yet given any official statement in this regard. Some users only opened TikTok’s homepage, but further content or interaction was not possible. Similarly, Chinese apps like AliExpress and Shein are also still blocked in India and their shopping feature is also not available.

TikTok and some other Chinese apps exited from India in June 2020, which is still remembered as one of the high-profile apps. The ban was imposed after the deadly clash in Galwan Valley, in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred, and after that 59 Chinese apps were banned. At that time, Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced the move as “India’s digital strike”. Since then, some apps have tried to come back with new versions like Xender and TanTan, but TikTok is still not available in India.

The #TikTok hashtag is trending on social media and people are very excited and nostalgic about it. The reactions of the users are interesting and funny, and the memes are going quite viral. Everyone wants to see when and how TikTok will come back to India, but now the government has made it clear that the ban has not been lifted. Despite the popularity of TikTok and the demand of the users, this platform is officially blocked in India right now. This seems like the users will have to wait in the coming time as well and the original TikTok app will remain inaccessible for India for now.
