Samsung: The upcoming line of foldable smartphones from South Korean company Samsung may be released shortly. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 may be part of this smartphone series. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the lightest and thinnest folding smartphone, says to the company.

The next Galaxy Z series will be the thinnest, lightest, and most advanced model in the foldable smartphone market, says a blog post by Samsung. A video of a book-style foldable smartphone may be found in this post. This suggests that the device is the Galaxy Z Fold 7. As to the company, the engineers and designers of the upcoming Galaxy Z series will focus on making the smartphones more robust, lightweight, and thin. As per Samsung, this phone would offer an ultra-level experience. The primary back camera of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a capacity of 200 megapixels.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 was recently seen on the website of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The SM-D617D is its model number. Qi 2.1 wireless charging is supported, per this listing. Baseline Power Profile (BPP) is supported. This implies that there will not be any integrated magnets for wireless charging or magnetic accessories on this smartphone. BPP and Qi charging were also supported by Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series. However, users must use a Qi2 compliant case in order to use this charging method.

Over the past few years, sales of foldable smartphones have increased rapidly. The largest share in this market is held by Samsung. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 from the company has a thickness of 8.9 mm when folded and 3.9 mm when unfurled. By contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 5.6 mm thick when unfolded and 12.2 mm thick when folded. The Find N5 is the thinnest foldable smartphone, says Oppo, one of the major phone makers. When folded, this smartphone measures 8.93 mm in thickness, and when unfolded, it measures 4.21 mm.
