A creativity brought forth by the line of foldable devices-Z Fold from Samsung. One of the features that brought a lot of joy to the previous generations is the S Pen support. Strangely though, the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7, has not included the much loved S Pen, leaving fans divided. As the latest reports state, there are high chances of bringing back S Pen support as the company develops its later foldable variants, and here are all the details.
Why S Pen Excluded on Galaxy Z Fold 7
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the most slender and lightest foldable manufactured so far by Samsung at only 4.2 mm thin when unfolded. An internal digitizer critical to S Pen functionality probably did not make it through to build the phone this way.
Moreover, less than 1% of Galaxy Z Fold 6 users were revealed as standard stylus users by the company, proving it did not matter to most buyers. By getting rid of it, portability is improved, and thickness is reduced.
S Pen’s Return-Samsung Reaction to It
Even though the S Pen style technology is missing, the company has announced that the said technology is not dead yet. In fact, the company is continuing work on this and developing a thinner S Pen that does not require a built-in digitizer or battery. This will let future foldable devices remain slim while still allowing for an S Pen experience.

Samsung is working closely alongside a Korean company known as HiDeep to develop this next-gen stylus. When perfected and the demand from users reaches the appropriate threshold, there could be the chance of integrating the S Pen back into the foldable lines smoother and more organically.
What to Look Forward with More Models
Even though Samsung didn’t outrightly say what particular model would return S Pen support to the future devices, many basically assume it would be the very device he’s talking about-Galaxy Z Fold 8. The next generation might incorporate:
A redesigned S Pen that works without a digitizer
Built-in S Pen slot, just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra
Features enhancing AI-based handwriting and drawing
According to the product team at Samsung, technology maturity and demand from users would govern the return of the stylus.
Mixed Fan Reactions
The absence of S Pen support in Fold 7 has got mixed reactions among the fans. Some users top the list of those that will be glad with a lighter and thinner design, though the absence of the stylus functionality is felt most among content creators and note-taking enthusiasts.

One user said:
“I loved using the S Pen on my Fold 4 for sketching and editing. Fold 7 feels incomplete without it.”
There’s still more to it concerning the S Pen as the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could change the design concept of foldables by Samsung. It is under development, so we may not have to wait long for a stylus of the latest generation, which integrates very seamlessly into the future foldables of Samsung.
If you are a fan of S Pen, perhaps you should hold on until Galaxy Z Fold 8 or the other more future models that would allow you to use this awesome feature more intelligently and in thinner designs.
Stay tuned and informed as Samsung continues to evolve and expand its foldable experience.
