Realme 13 Pro+: Realme has launched its 13 Pro series in India, and we have used its top model Realme 13 Pro+ for a few weeks. At first glance, this phone looks similar to last year’s Realme 12 Pro+, but when you use it in everyday life, some changes start to appear inside it – especially in the camera and AI features.
The Realme 12 Pro+ had already become famous for its camera performance, and this time too the Realme 13 Pro+ has become a completely camera-centric phone. Although there is no big jump in performance, some special touches have been given to make the user experience more smooth and fun.
Design and build quality: Premium feel, now with glass back
You get its premium feel as soon as you hold the phone in your hand. This time Realme has brought out a beautiful variant called Monet Gold in which the rear glass back has a pattern that looks like waves of sand. The edges are curved which makes it comfortable to hold.
The same big round camera module is available on the back which has become the identity of Realme, but now a HyperImage + logo is also visible in it. The body of the phone still has a plastic frame, but the glass back makes its look quite premium.
Display: Curved AMOLED screen is now brighter
The front of the phone has a 6.7-inch AMOLED curved display which gives Full HD + resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This screen now comes with a brightness of 2000 nits, which makes it easy to read the screen even in sunlight. A protection film is already applied on the display, but you can change it if you want.
There is an under-display fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the screen which works very smoothly. You get many options regarding the colors of the screen like Vivid, Natural and Pro modes. The response time of the screen is also very good, which makes the experience of gaming or watching movies fun.
Software and AI features: Some new, some old, some bugware issues
The phone runs on Android 14 based Realme UI 5.0, in which Realme has promised two years of software updates and three years of security patches. The interface is simple and user-friendly but some bugware like Glance lock screen and keyboard with ads can be a bit annoying.
Now let’s talk about those AI features which Realme has promoted a lot. Like AI Screen Recognition, which works a lot like Google’s Circle to Search. With the AI Smart Loop feature, you can quickly share photos, text etc.
The AI Eye Comfort feature changes the temperature of the screen by recognizing your eye fatigue – although this feature is not that new. Apart from this, there are also Air Gestures, with which you can run some apps without touching it, but this feature does not always work properly.
The AI things related to the camera are more impressive – like AI Eraser which removes objects from the photo and AI Ultra Clarity which makes the photo more sharp.
Performance: Camera focused phone, not a gaming monster
If you are looking for a phone that gives you a lot of power, then Realme 13 Pro + is probably not for you. It has a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, which is good for day to day use and mid-level gaming, but falls short for heavy gaming.
The phone gets UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR4X RAM. Switching apps, scrolling social media, using the camera – all this runs smoothly. Games like Genshin Impact and BGMI run on mid graphics during gaming, and the phone gets a little hot after long sessions.
Its score was not that impressive in benchmarks as well, but in the real world this difference is less visible.
Camera: This is where Realme’s real strength lies
The camera setup of the phone is excellent. There are three cameras at the rear, two of which are 50MP Sony sensors – a main camera and a telephoto. Apart from this, there is an 8MP ultra wide camera and a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor in the front.
Photos taken from the main camera are very sharp, colorful and with natural skin tone. Photos come out good even in low light, especially with night mode.
Now let’s talk about the telephoto camera which gives up to 3x zoom. Portrait photos taken from it give natural bokeh, skin tone looks perfect and the detail of the photo is also amazing. This camera also performs well at night as long as you do not zoom too much.
The ultra wide camera gives good photos only during the day, it becomes a little weak in low light. The selfie camera is also good during the day but works normally at night.
Talking about video recording, both the main and telephoto cameras make good videos in 4K and 1080p, but stabilization could have been a little better.
Battery life: Strong performance, with fast charging
The Realme 13 Pro+ has a 5,200mAh battery that lasts a full day on a single charge. In normal use, the screen on time reaches up to 7 hours.
Charging is also fast – an 80W charger is provided in the box and the phone charges from 0 to 100 percent in about 1 hour 10 minutes.
Verdict: Is Realme 13 Pro+ really worth buying?
If you are looking for a smartphone in which the camera matters the most, then you can buy Realme 13 Pro+ without thinking. It is difficult to find a better camera phone than this in this price range.
Be it OnePlus Nord 4, Poco F6, Samsung Galaxy A35 or Motorola Edge 50 – all of these are good in some way or the other, but Realme 13 Pro+ is the best in camera
