Software and Interface: Lightweight and Functional

KaiOS v2.5.3 provides the Prima 2 with barebones smartphone-like features on a feature phone OS. The user is provided with access to Jio apps, light web surfing, and elementary messaging capabilities. Even though heavy app support and multitasking features are not there, the OS is rock-solid and perfect for elementary calling, messaging, and sporadic surfing.

Display: Compact and Basic Quality

It features a 2.4-inch LCD with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 167 PPI pixel density. The display is simple, good enough for texts and low-profile media, but not good enough for high-res photos or video watching. It’s very usable indoors, but very bad in sunlight outside.

Camera: Name only

On the camera side, JioPhone Prima 2 has a 0.3MP rear and 0.3MP front camera. These are very low-spec cameras and are meant only for emergency photography or for casual fun snaps. Do not even expect any detail or sharpness, these cameras lag behind even budget phones.

Performance: Good for Light Tasks

The phone is driven by 512MB of RAM and features 4GB of inbuilt storage. That is ample enough to smoothly operate KaiOS apps as well as hold a couple of pictures and contacts. There is also a separate memory card slot supporting up to 128GB expansion, which is a boon for audio and media consumers.

Connectivity: 4G VoLTE and Wi-Fi Support

One of the strongest plus points of the Prima 2 is its support for 4G VoLTE connectivity, thus enabling users to make HD calls. The phone also comes equipped with Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as USB v2.0 charging and file transfer port. That’s impressive for a feature phone.

Battery Life: Good enough for a Feature Phone

With a replaceable 2000mAh battery, JioPhone Prima 2 provides decent two-day backup for regular usage. Because it is not a power hog, it will have decent standby time and long calls without unnecessary recharging.

Verdict: Basic but Appealing for Certain Users

JioPhone Prima 2 is not suitable for power users or enthusiasts, but it precisely does what it’s designed to do provides calling, messaging, and web browsing within a small, durable body. If you’re looking for a backup phone or a basic 4G feature phone for older people, it’s a sensible buy at a low cost.
