iPhone 17 Air: The iPhone 17 Air from Apple profiles as one of the most daring launches of the company in the last years, standing out mainly for its ultra-delicate design. New images shared recently show mock-up models of the next line of iPhone 17, revealing that the Air model has slimmed down to the size of its own side buttons. With just 5.5 mm of thickness, this device could become the thinnest iPhone ever made.

Durable and Lightweight Design

To achieve this level of durability, Apple will resort to a combination of titanium and aluminum in the chassis, materials chosen not only for their lightness, but also for their resistance. The company seems to have decided to avoid past controversies like the well-known “bendgate” of the iPhone 6 Plus (and this is not the only phone that has been bent in history). In fact, it is reported that it initially considered increasing the size of the iPhone 17 Air to more than 6,6 inches, but ultimately abandoned the idea to avoid structural risks. This decision highlights the emphasis that Apple is placing on the durability of the design, despite its ultrathin profile.

Simplified Features for a Clean Look

The new model will stand out not only for its looks, but also for the technical decisions that have entailed its development. To conserve internal space, Apple has opted for a single rear camera, which represents a turn against the trend of multiple lenses in recent models. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to adopt exclusively eSIM globally, a “virtual card” that will eliminate the physical slot for SIM cards, contributing to an even cleaner and compact design.

Additionally, the device will incorporate Apple’s C1 modem, a proprietary design solution that recently debuted in the iPhone 16e. This chip promises a superior energy efficiency, which will allow the battery life to remain on par with current models, despite the reduced space available.

iPhone 17 Air Launch Date and Price

As for its presentation and availability, it is expected that Apple will present the iPhone 17 Air during its usual September event. Following its usual ‘modus operandi’, the reservations will start days after the announcement at the event and although the price has not been confirmed, estimates point to its initial cost being situated between the 900 and the 1.300 euros (₹75,000 and ₹1,10,000), placing it firmly in the upper range of the market.

With its combination of advanced aesthetics, precision engineering and a clear focus on structural innovation, the iPhone 17 Air could mark a new point of inflection in the design of smartphones.
