When one of the iPhone models launches, Lat year there is sometimes a feeling of letdown. Why are some of the exclusive features reserved for the Pro not available on the standard iPhone? Why does the Pro cost so much? The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus last year more than ever close the gap between the standard and Pro models. So, should you purchase one?
The Differences Between the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
Because the two iPhones without the Pro name are nearly similar, this part is brief, dear reader. the same physical qualities, cameras, features, apps, processor, and even color palette.
Three distinctions exist, and each is significant. The size comes first. Would you prefer the iPhone 16 Plus’s larger screen (6.7 inches) over the iPhone 16’s (6.1 inches)? Or would you prefer a smaller phone that fits more comfortably in your palm and fits in a trouser pocket? Do yourself a favor and try it out on your own hand before deciding to opt for the Plus. It is the same size as the iPhone 15 Plus from a year ago.
The battery life is the second difference. As you can see, all of the iPhone models from this year have larger batteries and longer battery life. On the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, it works well and gets even better. Consider the Plus if you use it regularly.
Design of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
Demands were raised by some that the iPhone 15’s colors were too subdued to be captivating. This year’s seem far more optimistic, as if Apple took that to heart. If you do not want to stand out, you can go for black or white. However, the other three hues—a gorgeous yet subtle teal, a sweet pink, and, my favorite, a fierce blue known as ultramarine—are eye-catching.
Though I regret that yellow is not included this time, these are some of the greatest, most striking colors the iPhone has ever had, and they are all distinct enough that you are sure to find one you like.
A improved version of Ceramic Shield has been developed to better protect the front of the iPhone in the event that it is dropped. This is also present in the iPhone 16 Pro.
The display, which still maintains a 60Hz refresh rate, is one item that has not changed. Many other manufacturers have included displays with dynamic or higher refresh rates in more affordable phones, but Apple only uses its best screens—which it refers to as ProMotion—in the Pro line. Maybe one day.
The two cameras on the back are no longer placed vertically, but rather one over the other. The large lenses stand out against the matte texture of the rest of the rear because they are on a glossy camera island.
Cameras on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
Even when the iPhone is in your pocket, you can feel the Camera Control: press it once to take it out, and then press it again to snap it. Genius. While sliding your finger allows you to zoom, a light double-press (you can be particularly careful here because it is a button with both mechanical and capacitive capabilities) will take you to further functions for more control. It is a fantastic new method for taking still images and video.
How good are the cameras themselves, rather than how you press the button? First off, both lenses now have an anti-reflective coating that may reduce camera glare. Before we discuss the cameras and their capabilities, it is important to note that.
A new camera called the Ultra-Wide has more pixels and a quicker aperture (f/2.2 instead of f/2.4). My testing supports the theory that this performs better in low light.
Also, you may now capture macro images, which were previously only available to Pros. Results are good, but the iPhone 16 Pro can still be said to be superior because it now features a 48-megapixel Ultra-Wide sensor.
Extra Features of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
An awesome bonus is the Audio Mix. If you have recorded a video and notice that someone is loud background chatter is disrupting the mood, you can edit the footage to remove that voice completely. It is really helpful.
The data that was previously hidden in Settings is now prominently shown in a brand-new app called Passwords, which is quite helpful.
Speaking of settings, that app got a strange small change. The phone setting is now considerably more difficult to locate. Prior to being moved to the apps area, it was included among the essential functions like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Although I understand that making calls is no longer necessary, I would still prefer to have easy access to these options. The term suggests that an iPhone should still be used for phone calls.
Performance of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
A hand-me-down processor from the iPhone 14 Pro was used in the iPhone 15 last year. It was quick, but not nearly as quick as the iPhone 15 Pro’s A17 Pro chip. Because of this, Apple Intelligence can only be handled by the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
This year, Apple developed a brand-new CPU dubbed the A18, and the iPhone 16 Pro has a more powerful variant known as the A18 Pro. The important thing to remember is that both of the new chips are made for Apple Intelligence, which might indicate that the 16 and 16 Plus received a greater speed bump than they otherwise would have. Another way that this year’s standard iPhones have gotten closer to the Pro’s capabilities.
It goes without saying that a fast CPU has advantages beyond Apple Intelligence. Unsurprisingly, it operates quickly in every scenario, from the camera’s zero shutter lag to the menus opening instantly in every case.
The company’s version of artificial intelligence, Apple Intelligence, can help with writing, summarize emails and websites, and instantly produce original emoji or graphics. Also, it presents a far smarter Siri. However, it will happen later; the initial features will be available in October.
In the meanwhile, the longer battery life is really appreciated. Since almost everyone charges their phones overnight, a full day’s use is the bare minimum. This is what the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus provide. and more.
Apple quantifies battery life in different ways, one of them being video playback. This year’s phones have two more hours’ playback juice in the regular size, and a huge five more hours on the Plus. I haven’t been watching video that much, you understand, but I’ve been getting great battery life on both handsets.
