Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7: After the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung has now focused on its next big offering – and that is a series of new foldable smartphones. Every year between July-August, Samsung launches its flagship foldable devices, and something similar is going to happen this time too, but this time there is a big twist. If reports are to be believed, the company is preparing to launch not just two, but four foldable devices. These may include Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE and a triple-fold Galaxy G Fold. According to recent reports, live demo units of three of these devices have gone into production on April 30, due to which their launch is believed to be very close.
Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE: Possibility of simultaneous launch
Tech tipster Max Jambor has informed on X (earlier Twitter) that the production of demo units of Galaxy Z Fold 7 (codenamed Q7), Galaxy Z Flip 7 (B7), and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (B7R) has started from April 30. This is a clear indication that these three devices can be launched together. If we look at the launch timeline of last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, then this time too the launch event can be held in July.
Suspense still remains on Galaxy G Fold
However, no information has been revealed yet about the production of Galaxy G Fold, which is being said to be Samsung’s triple-fold phone. But looking at Samsung’s marketing strategy, it is possible that the company will tease it at the launch event and make its full reveal by the end of the year. Just like the Galaxy S25 Edge, it could be a surprise element that grabs everyone’s attention at the event.
Galaxy Z Fold 7: Lightweight design and powerful camera upgrade
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is believed to be the most high-end and popular device of this entire lineup. According to leaks, this time its design will be lighter than before and it will get a new hinge mechanism, which will reduce the crease between folding to a great extent. The camera system will also get a huge upgrade – it can be given a 200-megapixel primary sensor, which will make it the most powerful camera ever in the Galaxy lineup. Apart from this, the phone can be seen with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is the most advanced processor from Qualcomm till date. This chipset will not only increase the speed, but will also perform well in battery efficiency and AI tasks.
Galaxy Z Flip 7: Larger cover display and new processor
Samsung is also making many new changes in the Z Flip series this time. Galaxy Z Flip 7 will have a large cover display which can be around 4 inches, allowing users to do more work without opening the phone. Apart from this, the bezels on both sides of the phone have also been thinned, which will make it look more premium. The biggest change will be seen in its processor – Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be the first device in the Z series to feature Samsung’s own processor Exynos 2500 instead of Qualcomm. This chipset will be based on Samsung’s second-generation 3nm process technology, which will improve both performance and energy efficiency. This move is considered a big step towards Samsung’s self-reliance.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: First Foldable Fan Edition
Samsung is going to introduce a Fan Edition model in its foldable lineup for the first time – Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. This model is for those users who want a premium foldable experience at a slightly affordable price. If reports are to be believed, many hardware features of last year’s Z Flip 6 will be repeated in the Z Flip 7 FE. It will have Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is a powerful and tried-and-tested processor. It is expected to get 12GB of RAM and a 50-megapixel primary camera. The battery will be 4,000mAh, which will support 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The screen of this phone will also be similar to the Z Flip 6 – a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 3.4-inch cover display. The device has already passed 3C certification in China, indicating its launch soon.
Launch timeline and event expectations
If the production schedule and trends of the past year are to be believed, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE can be introduced at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in the second or third week of July. Samsung will not only launch foldables at this event, but can also give information about the new Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch series and One UI updates. Galaxy G Fold can be teased at this event, so that Samsung will once again prove its innovation in the foldable market.
This upcoming lineup of Samsung is not only showing innovation in design and camera, but it also seems to be moving towards new heights in terms of processor, display and battery. Now it remains to be seen at what price Samsung launches this next foldable series and how is its response in the market.
