PM Ujjwala Yojana: Under the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) of the Government of India, you can also get a free LPG gas connection and stove. The main objective of this scheme is to provide relief to women from smoke and provide them a safe and clean kitchen environment, which will improve both their health and lifestyle.

What is Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 May 2016. Its goal was to provide free LPG gas connections to women from economically weaker families. So far, lakhs of women have taken advantage of this scheme, and its second phase i.e.

Ujjwala 2.0 is also running successfully. Under this scheme, you will not only get a free gas connection but a stove will also be given. Not only this, subsidy will also be available on gas filling so that gas refilling is not expensive. This scheme is a big step towards ensuring access to clean fuel for rural and deprived families.

Why is this scheme so important

Even today many women in the country use traditional fuels like wood and coal for cooking. Not only does it cause trouble in cooking, but the smoke emitted also has a bad effect on health – especially on the lungs and eyes. Women have to face respiratory diseases, eye irritation, and other health problems.

In such a situation, Ujjwala Yojana has come up with an effective solution to all these problems. It protects women from diseases caused by smoke, reduces the time spent cooking, and provides them with a respectable and safe kitchen environment. This scheme is also an important step towards women’s empowerment.
