Tata Altroz DCA is creating buzz as one of the cheapest automatic transmission premium hatchbacks. Tcrafted for Indian conditions, this new DCA variant gives a smooth and intelligent driving experience to Altroz’s well-established reputation. With new features and advanced transmission technology, this model is all about comfort, convenience, and requirements of the driving of today.
Tata Altroz DCA Price and Variants
Tata Altroz DCA also comes in seven trims such as XM+, XT, XZ, XZ(O), and XZ+, along with two Dark Edition variants. The starting price is ₹8.10 lakh and extends up to ₹9.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It also gets a new Opera Blue color. Whereas Altroz comes with 1.2L turbo-petrol and 1.5L diesel, the DCA variant has only a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol unit that churns out 86 bhp and 113 Nm torque. This one uses automatic transmission alone while the others go on with manual.
What’s New in DCA Transmission
The DCA employs a 6-speed dual-clutch design, which weights approximately 20 kg more than the manual one. Tata has developed this system in accordance with Indian driving conditions. It has 45 patents and offers segment-first technologies such as active cooling technology with a wet clutch, machine learning, shift-by-wire technology, self-healing mechanism, and auto park lock. These technologies help to enhance durability, efficiency, and safety under everyday use.
Smart Features of the DCA Gearbox
- Self-healing mechanism shields transmission from dust through an auto-vibration system
- Auto park lock applies brake if driver ignores turning it on before leaving the car
- Machine learning learns to adapt driving behavior for improved shift response
- Active cooling keeps track of oil temperature 100 times a second
- TFT cluster alerts driver to shift to park before opening door
- Digital display displays gear positions prominently (P, R, N, D)
Driving Experience with Altroz DCA
Driving the Altroz DCA is a laid-back experience, particularly in city traffic. The DCA gearbox betters conventional AMT systems with smoother, almost imperceptible shifts. In automatic mode, however, the screen only displays ‘D’, without specifying the exact gear. Suspension and steering setup is unchanged from the manual. There is more engine noise when driven hard, and after 3000 rpm, the noise takes on a sportier tone. The car takes around 19 seconds to hit 100 kmph with two occupants on board.
Exterior Styling
Altroz DCA holds its razor-sharp design language. It has projector headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lamps, and a broad air dam at the front. Sides are improved with piano black ORVMs, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and concealed rear door handles. Doors open 90 degrees to facilitate easy access. At the back, it presents wraparound LED tail lamps, large black insert on tailgate, spoiler, wiper, and DCA badging for differentiation.
