EPFO WhatsApp Service: Accessing essential information regarding PF, pension, and insurance has become significantly easier for employees. On November 1, 2026, the EPFO officially launched its WhatsApp services. You can now obtain comprehensive details about your PF account from the comfort of your home by simply sending a ‘Hi’ message.
However, since the introduction of this new facility, some users have reported issues on the social media platform ‘X,’ noting various difficulties while using the service on WhatsApp—such as failing to receive an OTP. The good news is that the EPFO’s designated number, 8796441800, is now fully operational. Simply save this number to your mobile device and send ‘Hi’ to activate the WhatsApp service. So, how exactly does this new EPFO service work?
What features are available via WhatsApp?
Check your PF balance.
View your PF passbook details.
Review your last 5 transactions.
How to connect via WhatsApp?
Save the EPFO-provided number, 8796441800, to your contacts.
Open WhatsApp and start a chat with this number.
Send ‘Hi’ to the number.
Complete the verification process.
Access via QR Code: Members can also initiate a WhatsApp chat by scanning the official QR code provided by the EPFO.
Please note that the mobile number you use for the chatbot must be linked to your UAN (Universal Account Number).
Once verified, select the service you require—such as checking your PF balance or viewing your transaction history. The biggest advantage of this is that employees will no longer need to visit the EPFO website or office for minor enquiries. They will be able to access information related to their PF accounts directly via WhatsApp.
Automatic Claims for Funds in Inactive Accounts
Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya introduced the automatic transfer of EPF balances from inactive accounts during the 74th Foundation Day of the EPFO. Subscribers with Aadhaar-verified, inactive EPF accounts containing a balance of up to ₹1,000 will not be required to file a separate claim.
