EPFO Interest Update: Great news has emerged for crores of EPF account holders across the country. According to media reports, the PF interest amount will be credited to the accounts of crores of subscribers by July 15. There are approximately 9 crore active members within the EPFO. Notably, the latest update indicates that the EPFO ​​has ordered the crediting of 8.25% interest to members’ accounts. Additionally, the transfer process is expected to speed up due to a new system upgrade.

Interest Being Processed Automatically

Sources within the Ministry of Labour have stated that the interest payable to EPFO ​​account holders for the 2025-26 financial year is being processed automatically. The government has decided to provide interest at a rate of 8.25% for the 2025-26 year.

Sources revealed that field verification is currently underway at EPFO ​​offices across the country. Officials stated that this verification process would continue for another day or two. Following this, a total of more than ₹1.44 lakh crore is to be distributed among 34 crore EPFO ​​account holders. The interest will be credited to everyone’s EPF accounts by July 15. Under the old system, it often took until October or November for account holders to receive their interest; however, the new system has accelerated the crediting process.

How ​​Much Interest Will You Receive?

The government has decided to offer an interest rate of 8.25% on PF deposits for the 2025-26 financial year. In practice, interest on PF accounts is calculated based on the running monthly balance, and the total interest is calculated and credited at the end of the financial year, on March 31.

Check balance via SMS:

To check your PF account balance, go to the messaging section of your registered mobile number and send an SMS to 7738299899 with the text: EPFOHO UAN [Language Code]. For example, type “EPFOHO UAN ENG” to get details in English. You will then receive your PF account balance information via SMS.

Check via the UMANG App:

First, download the UMANG App. Log in and navigate to the ‘All Services’ section. Search for ‘EPFO’ and select the ‘Employee-Centric Services’ option. Next, click on ‘View Passbook’. Enter your UAN and the OTP received on your registered mobile number; your balance will then be displayed.

Check PF balance via missed call:

Dial 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. The call will disconnect automatically after two rings. Following this missed call, you will receive your PF account balance details via SMS.
