‘Are We Kids?’ Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Faces Online Criticism After OTT Premiere

Dhurandhar OTT Release Sparks Anger: Ranveer Singh and Akshay Khanna’s pairing set the screen on fire, but when it came to the OTT release, fans’ anger reached a boiling point. As soon as the spy thriller started streaming on Netflix on January 30th, people sacrificed their sleep to watch it. But by the time the film ended, the excitement had turned into anger. What exactly happened that led to trolling of Aditya Dhar’s film on social media? Let’s find out the whole story.

Why did the smiles disappear from the fans’ faces?

After the film made history in theaters, everyone was waiting for its ‘uncut version’. But according to a Times of India report, the version of the film released on OTT has been heavily edited.

Here’s the real reason for the controversy:

Censorship: The film received an ‘A’ (Adult) rating from the Censor Board, yet many dialogues and expletives were muted on Netflix.

10-minute cut: Fans noticed that the film’s length was about 10 minutes shorter than the theatrical version. This means several important scenes have been removed.

Loss of raw vibe: Viewers say that the edgy and ‘raw’ feel that is characteristic of spy thrillers has been completely destroyed by censorship.

Users’ anger erupts on social media

As soon as the film was released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, Twitter (X) and Instagram were flooded with complaints. Fans are saying that when we are paying for adult content, why are we being treated like children?

One user wrote: “Brother, if you had to mute the expletives, what was the point of giving an ‘A’ certificate? Do we look like 5-year-olds to you? At least the uncut version should have been available on OTT!”

Another user lashed out at the makers, saying: “You’ve killed the soul of the film. When we pay for a subscription, we want to watch the complete film, not an edited version.”
