School Holidays: The severity of winter in North India is gradually increasing. Considering the increasing cold and dense fog in the mornings and evenings, winter holidays in schools in Uttar Pradesh may be announced soon. Winter holidays in Uttar Pradesh schools could begin on December 20th and last until December 31st. This means children will have 12 days of fun. It’s worth noting that temperatures remain very cold through December 31st, and there is also dense fog during this period. Therefore, the government has declared winter vacation until December 31st.
Delhi-NCR School Holidays
Schools in Delhi-NCR may also soon have winter vacations. However, many schools have already started their winter vacation from Christmas, which will last until January 1st. Other schools will have winter vacation beginning on January 1st and lasting 10 days. Most schools will reopen in the second week of January 2026. However, students appearing for board exams may be called to school for extra classes during the winter vacation.
Schools Closed in Punjab
There was a stir in the Amritsar district of Punjab, which led to the closure of several schools. After several prominent schools in the city received similar threatening emails in recent days, the district administration has taken significant action. All government, private, and aided schools in the district have been ordered to close immediately. According to District Education Officer Rajesh Sharma, official orders are being issued in this regard. He further said that all schools are safe and the administration is closely monitoring the situation. Officials have also inspected several schools and have not found anything suspicious so far. As a result, some examinations have also been postponed, and new dates have been announced.

Schools Closed in Jammu and Kashmir
Due to the severe cold in Jammu and Kashmir, schools have been closed since November 26th and will now reopen on February 22nd. Pre-primary schools were closed from November 26, 2025. The holidays for classes 1 to 8 began on December 1, 2025. Schools for classes 9 to 12 also closed on December 11. All classes will reopen on February 22, 2026.
