School Holidays 2025: Students eagerly await the Diwali holidays. Children have a lot of fun during Diwali. The Diwali and Chhath festivals are fast approaching across the country. Due to the festivals, schools in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and other states have announced school holidays. While schools in Rajasthan will be closed for 12 days, schools in states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana will be closed for 4 to 5 days. See the state-wise list here:
School Holidays in Rajasthan
According to an order issued by Rajasthan’s Director of Secondary Education, Sitaram Jat, the Diwali holidays have been extended. All government and private schools will remain closed entirely from October 13th to 24th. However, the total holiday period will be 12 days, including Sunday (October 12th). During this period, all government and private schools in the Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, and Kota divisions of the state will remain closed. Schools in Rajasthan will now reopen from October 25th.
Schools closed in Bihar until the 10th
In addition to Diwali, the festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the state of Bihar. Therefore, the Bihar government has declared school holidays in the state from October 20th to October 29th. These holidays include both Diwali and Chhath Puja. All schools and colleges in Bihar will remain closed for 10 days.
School Holidays in Uttar Pradesh
Schools in Uttar Pradesh will be closed for three days from Diwali to Bhai Dooj. The UP government has declared holidays on October 20th, 22nd, and 23rd for Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj, respectively. Since October 19th is a Sunday, students will have four days off for Diwali.
School Holidays in Delhi
Schools in Delhi will be closed for five days. October 19th is Sunday, October 20th is Narak Chaturdashi, October 22nd is Govardhan Puja, October 23rd is Bhai Dooj, and October 28th is Chhath Puja.
Karnataka announces 10-day holiday.
In Karnataka, schools are already closed for 10 days due to the caste survey. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a holiday for government and aided schools from October 8 to October 18 to facilitate the completion of the state’s caste survey.
