According to the official announcement by NID, the DAT Prelims exam will be held on December 21, 2025. The application deadline is December 1, 2025. Candidates are advised not to wait for the deadline ato nd complete the application process on time to avoid any technical issues.
Where can students pursue a B.Des program?
NID has several campuses across the country where students can pursue a B.Des program. The majors available at the Ahmedabad campus are Animation Film Design, Exhibition Design, Film and Video Communication, and Graphic Design.
In addition, studies in Ceramic and Glass Design, Furniture and Interior Design, and Product Design are available at the Faculty of Industrial Design in Ahmedabad. Additionallspecialisationsons in Textile Design can be obtained from the Faculty of Textile, Apparel, Lifestyle, and Accessories Design.
Meanwhile, NID campuses in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam offer B.Des course options in Communication Design, Industrial Design, and Textile & Apparel Design.
Who can take the NID DAT 2026 exam?
Enrol in the NIDEnrol program, candidates must have passed or are appearing for Class 12. Class 12 can be in any stream, including Science, Arts, Commerce, or Humanities. Candidates must be born on or after July 1, 2005.
Exam Pattern: NID DAT 2026 will be conducted in two stages
NID’s Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will be conducted in two stages:
Stage 1 – DAT Prelims: This exam will be held on December 21, 2025. It will be a pen-and-paper test and will be conducted in English only.
It will consist of a mix of text and visual questions.
Stage 2 – DAT Mains: Only candidates shortlisted based on their performance in the Prelims will appear for the Mains exam. Candidates can find complete information on the Mains exam pattern and syllabus on the NID website.
The NID DAT Prelims exam will be held in 17 cities across the country, including Patna and Kolkata.
