CSIR UGC NET December 2025: If you haven’t applied for the CSIR UGC NET December 2025 exam, there’s some good news for you. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has now released a special update. Applicants will be able to register for the CSIR UGC NET December 2025 exam on a new date. Interested and eligible candidates have another opportunity; they can apply online until October 27, 2025. The previous deadline for applications was October 24, but in response to requests from candidates, the NTA has extended it by three days.

Exam Purpose and Date

The CSIR NET December session exam will be held on December 18, 2025. This exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at various centres across the country.
This exam determines candidates’ eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions, and PhD admissions. The NTA stated that the decision to extend the application deadline was made in response to requests from many candidates to ensure that more candidates can participate.

Corrections can be made until October 29th

The NTA also stated that after the application window closes, a form correction window will be available from October 27th to 29th, 2025. During this period, candidates can correct any incorrect information provided in their application. However, candidates are advised to carefully check all details before filling out the form to avoid any problems later.

Exam Pattern

The CSIR NET December exam will be of three hours duration and will be conducted in two shifts.

  • First Shift: 9 AM to 12 PM
  • Second Shift: 3 PM to 6 PM

The exam will be conducted for five major subjects.

  • Chemical Sciences
  • Earth and Planetary Sciences
  • Life Sciences
  • Mathematical Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
