Delhi Nursery Admission 2026. Preparations for the Nursery, KG, and Class 1 admission process for the 2026–27 session in Delhi have been completed. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has released a new schedule, under which entry-level admissions to over 1,700 private schools in the capital will officially begin on December 4, 2025. This time, emphasis has been placed on transparency, and all draws of lots will be conducted in the presence of parents.

When and how will admissions begin?
According to the circular, all private schools in Delhi (except those in the EWS/DG/CWSN categories) must upload the admission criteria and related points for their open seats online by November 28, 2025. After this, parents will be able to apply online between December 4 and December 27, 2025, by visiting the Delhi Directorate of Education website, edudel.nic.in.
Age Limit: What is the required age for which class?
The age limit for entry-level admissions is as follows:
- Class Age Limit (as of March 31, 2026)
- Nursery (Pre-school) 3–4 years
- KG (Pre-primary) 4–5 years
- Class 1 5–6 years
School heads may grant an age relaxation of up to one month under special circumstances.

- First, visit the official website, edudel.nic.in.
- Go to the ‘Entry Level Admission’ section and click on the relevant link.
- Fill in the required information and complete the application form.
- Upload documents such as proof of address and birth certificate.
- Deposit ₹25 as the application fee (non-refundable).
- Finally, submit the form and download a copy.

Draw of lots will be transparent – video recording mandatory
The DoE has clarified that any draw of lots will be conducted at the school in the presence of parents and with video recording. Additionally, all schools must publicly upload information on their websites, including admission criteria, criteria points, details of students admitted to open seats, and total allotted points.

Strict Instructions for Schools
The circular reiterates that charging capitation fees is prohibited. Schools cannot force parents to purchase their prospectuses.
A registration fee of only ₹25 can be charged. A monitoring cell will be set up in each district to hear complaints and ensure compliance with the rules.
