What is the Passing Criteria?
To pass the CBSE Class 10 examination, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject. This includes marks obtained in both the theory examination and internal assessments. What are Grace Marks?
It often happens that students fail in one or two subjects due to a minor shortfall in marks. In such instances, the CBSE Board extends the facility of “grace marks.” This provision is available specifically to students who are on the verge of failing by a very narrow margin. The application of grace marks is entirely subject to the Board’s regulations.

The Option of Compartment Exams
If a student does not benefit from the grace marks provision, CBSE offers an additional opportunity known as the “Compartment Exam.” In this examination, the student appears only for the specific subject(s) in which they have failed. This examination is typically conducted shortly after the announcement of the main results.
