Diwali Special Trains: The festival of Diwali will be celebrated across the country on November 8, with ‘Chhoti Diwali’ being observed on October 7. On the occasion of Diwali, many people living in states other than their home states are travelling back home to celebrate. Railway stations and bus stands are witnessing large crowds. If you are planning to head home for Diwali but have been unable to secure a train ticket, there is no need to worry—there is some good news for passengers.
Preparations for Diwali are underway across the country, and many people are travelling home for this festive season, including those who live away from their families for work or studies. Consequently, there has been a significant increase in passenger movement at railway stations and bus terminals. In light of this surge in passenger numbers, Bhopal Railway has introduced 20 special trains.
More than 100,000 passengers are arriving at the Bhopal railway station daily, heading home for Diwali. Managing such a large volume of travellers has become a challenge for the railway administration; therefore, special security and surveillance arrangements have been put in place at the station.
30 Personnel Deployed for Security
To ensure passenger safety and monitor the crowds, 30 security personnel have been deployed within the station premises. Furthermore, the entire station is under surveillance via 18 cameras—comprising 13 AI-enabled cameras and 5 facial recognition cameras—which are being used to monitor passenger movement and crowd density across various parts of the station.
Who is overseeing operations?
To ensure that passengers do not face any difficulties at the station during the festive period, the railways have organised the flow of passenger movement by dividing the station area into distinct zones. In this effort, the commercial department team is working alongside RPF personnel to manage the crowds. The railways aim to ensure that, despite heavy crowding at the station, they maintain the safety and convenience of passengers.
