DA Hike: DA Hike: Good news for Telangana government employees as the state government, under Revanth Reddy’s leadership, has given the green light for the release of two installments of dearness allowance and dearness relief. As per many reports, Minister Srinivas Reddy shared this update. The release of these pending installments is estimated to cost the state government an additional burden of Rs 2500 crore annually. Despite this financial impact, the Telangana government has granted approval, fulfilling a recent commitment made to state employee organizations.

1. When can employees expect the outstanding arrears?

Addressing the press after the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister confirmed that the two pending dearness allowances and arrears from 2024 will be disbursed promptly. However, no specific timeline has been provided for the payment of the remaining arrears.

2. Anticipation for the DA announcement among central employees

The Central Government disburses dearness allowance biannually, in January and July. The announcement for the January dearness allowance, revealing a 2% increase to reach 60%, was made in April. Employees are now eagerly anticipating the July dearness allowance, which is anticipated to be disclosed between Dussehra and Diwali. Speculations suggest a potential 3 to 4% increase this time, though an official announcement from the Central Government is still pending.

3. Await for the bonus

Employee unions from the Postal Department have urged the Central Government to announce the bonus before Durga Puja, also requesting an increase in the bonus cap from Rs 7,000 to Rs 21,000. However, the Central Government has not provided any information on this matter as of now.
