Yuvasathi Scheme: In preparation for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, the state government has introduced the Yuva Sathi Scheme aimed at supporting unemployed youth. This initiative will provide monthly financial aid to young individuals who have completed their secondary education and are currently without a job. The government emphasizes that the scheme is designed to offer temporary assistance to those actively looking for work. Now, let’s delve into the details of the West Bengal Yuva Sathi Scheme and identify who qualifies for the monthly benefit of Rs 1,500.
Who qualifies for the scheme’s benefits?
The West Bengal Yuva Sathi scheme is targeted at young residents of West Bengal aged between 21 and 40. To be eligible, applicants must have completed their secondary education and be unemployed at the time of their application. However, individuals who are already employed or receiving benefits from other government welfare programs will not qualify for this scheme. Additionally, the government has made it clear that beneficiaries will still be eligible for certain scholarships.
What is the amount of financial assistance provided?
Eligible youth under the Yuva Sathi Scheme will receive a monthly payment of Rs 1,500 directly deposited into their bank accounts. This financial support will be available for a maximum duration of 5 years, amounting to Rs 18,000 annually and a total of Rs 90,000 over the entire period. Moreover, the scheme will undergo a review after 5 years, and if the beneficiary remains unemployed and within the specified age range, a decision will be made regarding the continuation of the assistance.
When will this scheme be implemented?
The state government initially stated that the scheme would begin in August, but later announced that it would begin on April 1, 2026. The application process will begin in February. Special camps will be set up in all 294 assembly constituencies across the state. To apply for the scheme, youth must register through designated portals or camps. The application process involves mobile number verification, personal information, and bank details. Required documents such as Aadhaar card, secondary mark sheet, passport-size photo, and a photocopy of the bank passbook will be included. After submitting the form, the application ID will allow tracking of the status.
Will you get money from the Yuva Sathi scheme if you get another scholarship or allowance?
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee clarified that even if I get any other scholarship from the state government, I will get money from the Yuva Sathi scheme. However, if I don’t get money from any other scheme, I will get 1500 rupees for the next 5 years. If I don’t get a job in five years, my name will be renewed. Then I will get money from the Yuva Sathi scheme again.
