New Delhi: The political temperature in Karnataka is constantly rising these days, leading to various speculations. There is talk in the political airwaves that the Congress may change the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Simply put, Siddaramaiah could be replaced by another candidate. Discussions about his removal are showing no signs of abating.

The escalating conflict within the Karnataka Congress has reached a boiling point. Whether the Chief Minister of Karnataka will be replaced remains a major question. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said he will soon resolve the issue. No official word has been made yet on who will become the next Chief Minister of Karnataka, but speculation continues.

Mallikarjun Kharge made a significant statement.

Speaking to a news channel, Congress sources reported that party president Kharge said this afternoon that Sonia (Gandhi), Rahul Gandhi, and I will resolve the issue. He added that a solution will be found by December 1, the beginning of the winter session of Parliament.

A meeting will be held between Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in the next 48 hours. Following this, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar will likely be summoned to Delhi on Friday. This will resolve the ongoing dispute over the Chief Minister’s post.

Reports of Factionalism in the Karnataka Congress

It is worth noting that Karnataka is one of the three states where the Congress is in full rule and where elections are due in two years. Factionalism is evident within the Karnataka unit. While one group of MLAs strongly supports Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, another is insisting that DK Shivakumar take over as a “reward” for his hard work.

DK Shivakumar had made explicit comments that, after Congress’s surprise electoral victory in 2023, he was reportedly told that he would share the Chief Minister’s duties with Siddaramaiah, meaning both would hold the post for 2.5 years.
