What is PNG?

PNG means Piped Natural Gas. It reaches your home directly through the pipe. There is no hassle of carrying the cylinder. The bill comes according to your usage.

What is LPG?

LPG means Liquefied Petroleum Gas. You get it in the form of a cylinder. Booking has to be done every month. If the gas gets over, it is necessary to order a new cylinder.

What is the difference between the two?

There are four major differences between these two gases. Such as:

Safety- PNG is lighter than air, so it spreads quickly when it leaks and poses less danger. LPG is heavy, so it can accumulate at the bottom when it leaks and the risk of an accident is higher.

Convenience- PNG gives continuous supply through pipeline. No worry of cylinder getting over. In LPG there is a hassle of booking and picking up cylinder every time.

Payment System- There is no need to make advance payment in PNG. Bill as per usage. In LPG, the entire amount of cylinder has to be paid in one go.

Economical- PNG is cheaper in most cases, because the bill comes according to consumption. On the other hand, the price of LPG is decided by the government and keeps changing from time to time.

Which is better for your kitchen?

If PNG pipeline is available in your area then it is easier, safer and more economical. Paying a little every month does not put a burden on the pocket. On the other hand, LPG is better for those places where there is no pipeline facility. The rate of Indraprastha Gas Limited i.e. IGL in Delhi is Rs 49.59 per SCM i.e. Standard Cubic Meter. Let us assume that a normal family uses 8-10 SCM of gas every month. According to this, your monthly bill can be between 400 and 500 rupees. Whereas in Delhi, the price of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder is 853 rupees and the price of 19 kg LPG cylinder is 1580 rupees.
