Viksit Bharat G RAM G: From next July, a few new rules are going to come into effect, and they will directly affect common people. The central government is implementing the “Vikas Bharat-Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural)” (VB-GRAMJI) across the country from July 1, 2026.

This new scheme is considered an important step towards making the rural economy more empowered, self-reliant, and inclusive by replacing the current rural employment system. Preparations have also begun for the effective implementation of this scheme in Rajasthan. The state will receive an allocation of over Rs 11,581 crore under this scheme.

The state has been allocated over Rs 11,581 crore

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stated that for the fiscal year 2026-27, the central government has made a budgetary provision of Rs 95,692 crore for this mission, which is believed to be the largest allocation in the history of rural employment programs. Including state contributions, the total expenditure for this program is estimated to exceed Rs 1.51 lakh crore.

The central government has allocated an interim amount of over Rs 7,581 crore for Rajasthan. In addition, the state government will provide an additional Rs 4,000 crore, which can be increased as needed. Thus, a total of over Rs 11,581 crore will be spent on rural employment and livelihood empowerment in the state.

He stated that the new system aims to better coordinate various departmental schemes, prevent duplication of resources, and ensure the creation of quality and durable assets in rural areas. He also emphasizes providing legal employment protections to rural workers. The state government’s goal is to ensure that no eligible rural family in the state is deprived of the benefits of the scheme.

125 days of statutory employment will be provided

CM Bhajan Lal stated that the most important feature of this mission is the increase in the employment guarantee period. Eligible rural families will now receive 125 days of statutory employment per financial year, instead of the current 100 days. This benefit will be available to families whose adult members voluntarily perform unskilled manual labor. This will not only increase rural families’ incomes but also strengthen their livelihood security.

The payment system under the scheme has also been significantly improved. Previously, wages were paid within 15 days, but now weekly payments are in place. All payments will be sent directly to workers’ bank or post office accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This will increase transparency and reduce unnecessary delays in payments.

He said that in addition, if employment is not provided within the stipulated time, a statutory provision has been made to provide unemployment allowance to eligible workers. Workers will also be compensated for delays in wage payments. This system will further strengthen the rights of rural workers.
