In this setup, one individual acts as the primary user, who processes payments from their bank account. The other individual added is referred to as the secondary user, who can make payments using the same account.

How does this feature function?

The primary user can add up to 5 individuals to their Google Pay account. The secondary user can initiate payments from their device, but the funds are deducted from the primary user’s bank account.

What requirements must be met?

The primary user needs to have an active bank account linked to Google Pay.

The secondary user’s phone number must be saved in the primary user’s contacts.

Secondary users are required to have the Google Pay app installed on their device and must possess a UPI ID or UPI Circle QR code.

Complete control over payments

The primary user retains full control over the spending of the secondary user. There are two options available for this. First, you can establish a monthly spending limit. This allows the secondary user to spend up to a predetermined amount each month without needing approval. The limit can be set as high as Rs 15,000.

Second, each payment can require authorization. This means the secondary user must first get permission from the primary user before making any payment.

How to set it up?

Launch the Google Pay app, navigate to your profile, and select the UPI Circle option. From there, you can add a secondary user. Enter their information, choose the limit or permission method, and input their UPI PIN to send the invitation.

This feature is particularly advantageous for children, elderly individuals, or those without a bank account who wish to engage in digital payments.
