Train Cancelled: Major setback for railway passengers. As the fog intensifies in North India, train operations become increasingly difficult. Consequently, the East Central Railway has decided to cancel several major trains and reduce the frequency of some between December and February. The focus is on ensuring passenger safety, as dense fog drastically reduces visibility and requires train speeds to be reduced.
In such a situation, running a large number of trains at the same speed could increase the risk. This is why the Railways has planned and made changes to the schedule. This decision will affect routes in several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi. Passengers are advised to check train status before traveling to avoid last-minute hassles.
Decision taken due to fog
According to information received from the railway, many trains are cancelled during the months of heavy fog for safety reasons. According to Hajipur Zone officials, fog not only reduces visibility on the tracks but also makes it difficult to see signals, increasing the risk of accidents. This is why speeds are reduced and train numbers are controlled.
From December 1st to February 28th, 2026, many trains will be completely suspended. While the weekly frequency of some trains has been reduced. Several trains have been short-terminated, meaning they will not run on their full routes. This will directly impact travelers to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and surrounding states. If your trip is during these months, please check for updates before booking tickets.
