Government will soon initiate the disbursement of social security pensions
Consequently, it is anticipated that the state government will soon initiate the disbursement of social security pensions. The ‘Divya Himachal’ media group, known for highlighting social issues, has prominently addressed the delays in the distribution of social security pensions. The government is now seeking specific targets from the districts. This initiative is expected to provide significant relief to numerous residents of the state.
The Himachal government has been providing social security pensions to thousands of eligible individuals; however, many have not received their pensions in recent months. Reports indicate that approximately 175,000 individuals in Kangra district alone are entitled to social security pensions, yet many are distressed due to the lack of payments. Elderly individuals, who rely on these pensions for their livelihood, have been frequently visiting banks and post offices in search of their funds.
Numerous individuals have reported that when they inquire about their pensions at post offices and banks, they receive the same response: the pensions have not yet arrived. As a result, many elderly and other pensioners return home feeling disheartened. Additionally, it has been noted that disabled individuals in the district have not received their pensions since August. In Kangra district, the state government is responsible for providing social security pensions to around 175,000 people, which includes pensions for the elderly, widows, and disabled individuals.
These pensions were expected to be disbursed in January; however, due to a lack of budget allocation from the government to the department, the payments have been delayed. The state government has now requested details regarding eligible recipients from the department, leading to the belief that social security pensions will be issued this month.
