Government Subsidy: The state government is actively working to enhance the income of farmers in Bihar and address their challenges. A variety of initiatives are being implemented to achieve this goal. Specifically, the government is focusing on assisting farmers who face difficulties in accessing water for their fields.
This initiative aims to empower small farmers in Bihar to achieve self-sufficiency in irrigation. To facilitate this, the state government will provide support for the installation of private tube wells, offering subsidies of up to 80 percent.
Government has issued a notification
The Minor Water Resources Department of the Bihar government has issued a notification encouraging farmers to submit claims under the Chief Minister’s Private Tubewell Scheme, part of the Saat Nishchay Part 2 initiative. Farmers whose applications have already received approval can access the grant amount upon completion of the boring process.
General category farmers can receive 50% subsidy
The scheme outlines varying grant amounts based on different categories: farmers from the general category will receive a 50 percent grant, while those from backward and extremely backward classes will be eligible for a 70 percent grant. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers can receive grants of up to 80 percent.
Farmers interested in benefiting from this scheme must submit an application and may need to provide certain documentation, including a voucher with the GST number for the pipe. Additionally, a voucher with the GST number for the motor pump is required, and the equipment to be installed must be manufactured in India.
80% subsidy
The cost for boring is set at Rs. 1200 per meter, with subsidies varying according to the category of the applicant. SC/ST category farmers will receive an 80 percent subsidy, while backward and extremely backward classes will be eligible for a 70 percent subsidy.
