New Silver Rule: The government has taken another big decision to protect consumers from fraud and prevent adulteration in silver. The hallmarking process of silver is being implemented across the country from September 1, 2025. Till now, hallmarking was mandatory only on gold jewelry, but now customers will also get a guarantee of the purity of silver. This step is considered to be an important change towards increasing transparency in the market and fixing the accountability of sellers.
Let us tell you that the government has clarified that, at present, this rule will not be completely mandatory. Customers can buy hallmarked silver if they want, and even without a hallmark if they want. However, just as hallmarking was properly implemented for gold earlier, it is likely that in the future this rule will be made mandatory on silver as well.
