Train Ticket- Every day lakhs of people travel by train across the country. To travel in the reservation coach of the train, tickets have to be booked in advance. For this, many people book tickets from the reservation counter, but most of the passengers book tickets online these days. If the seat is vacant in the train, then the ticket can be booked easily, but when the seat is not vacant, especially during the festival or holiday season, booking a ticket becomes a challenging task.
Indian Railways has provided many types of ticket booking facilities keeping in mind the needs of the passengers. When there is a long waiting list in the train, booking a current ticket, Tatkal ticket or premium Tatkal ticket is a good option. Often people get confused between these types of tickets. If you are also one of them, then this news is for you. Let us know about this in detail in this article.
How many days in advance does Tatkal ticket booking take place?
Tatkal ticket is for those passengers who have to travel suddenly. Or they have not got a confirmed ticket. This ticket can be booked a day before the journey. According to the rules of the Railways, Tatkal ticket booking starts at 10 am for AC class and 11 am for sleeper class. Seats are limited and tickets get sold out quickly, so booking on time is important. The fare is a little higher, but if you need to leave immediately in an emergency, this is a good option.
What is a current ticket?
If you are unable to get a ticket even in Tatkal and the day of travel has arrived and you do not have any ticket, then current ticket can be a last chance. This ticket can be booked till a few hours before the train departure provided there are vacant seats in the train. This ticket can also be taken from the railway counter or TTE (ticket checker). Many times current ticket booking is also visible on IRCTC. The fare in this is normal and there is a possibility of getting a confirmed seat if the seat is vacant in the train.
Who has more chances of getting a confirmed ticket?
In Tatkal Ticket (Current Booking Availability), you book a seat in advance, but if there is a high demand, the seat can also go into waiting. On the other hand, in Current Ticket (Current seat availability in trains) you get a seat only when seats are available a few hours before the train departs. If you are travelling with planning and have a day’s time, then it is better to book Tatkal ticket. But if you are travelling at the very last moment and have missed the Tatkal ticket, then you should try Current Ticket Booking (IRCTC Current Booking).
