Solar Pump Scheme: UP Govt Announces 70% Subsidy on Solar Pumps Under PM-KUSUM — Massive Relief for Farmers

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a revolutionary step to empower farmers and reduce irrigation costs. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government has increased the subsidy for installing solar pumps under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Maha Abhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme to 70%. The scheme aims to help farmers reduce their dependence on diesel and electricity, reduce costs, and promote eco-friendly farming. This subsidy will prove to be a major financial relief for millions of farmers in the state.

Grants to farmers under the PM-KUSUM scheme are provided in collaboration with the central government and the state government. Under this scheme, the subsidy amounts for solar pumps of different capacities are determined differently.

Solar Pumps Subsidy

Farmers will receive a whopping 70% subsidy on solar pumps of this capacity. The central government will contribute 30% and the Uttar Pradesh state government will contribute 40%. This means that farmers will only have to bear 30% of the total cost of the pump.

5 HP to 10 HP Pumps

Farmers will also receive a significant subsidy on these higher-capacity pumps. The central government will contribute 30%, while the state government will contribute 30%. Overall, farmers will receive a 60% subsidy on these pumps, and they will have to make a 40% deposit. This scheme helps farmers make a large one-time investment, allowing them to enjoy free irrigation for years.

Application Process for the PM-KUSUM Scheme

Farmers in Uttar Pradesh must apply online to avail of this substantial subsidy. The entire application process is transparent and digital. First, visit the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department or the PM-KUSUM scheme. Select the “PM-KUSUM Scheme Application” option and fill out the registration form. This will require your name, address, mobile number, and Aadhaar card details.

Upload the required documents, such as your Aadhaar card, land documents (khasra/khatauni), a photocopy of your bank passbook, and a scanned passport-size photo. Select the solar pump capacity (2 HP, 3 HP, 5 HP, 7.5 HP, or 10 HP) based on your farming and irrigation needs. Pay the prescribed application fee online.

Verification and Installation

After the application is submitted, the department will verify your documents and form. Upon successful verification, you will need to deposit your share, and the pump will then be installed by the selected vendor.
