Ration Card Update: To ensure that government schemes reach ration card holders effectively, the Supply Department has made e-KYC mandatory. Initially, the deadline was set for December 31, 2024, but it has now been extended by two months. Ration card holders can now complete their e-KYC until February 2025.
The e-KYC process has been initiated under the National Food Security Act, as per the instructions of the Government of India. The aim is to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach only genuine and eligible poor families. E-KYC has also been made mandatory to prevent fraud related to ration cards.

E-KYC can be done until February
District Food Supply Officer Preeti Kisku said that due to technical difficulties with the server, the pace of e-KYC has been quite slow. Therefore, the deadline has been extended to February 2025, so that more people can complete the process.
Millions of Ration Cards in the District
She informed that there are a total of 4,59,181 ration cards in Palamu district. In the last three months, only 1,51,529 cardholders have completed their e-KYC. Approximately 3,07,651 beneficiaries still need to complete their e-KYC. The server problem persists throughout the state, but the department is striving to achieve 100 percent e-KYC completion within the extended period.

How to do E-KYC
Ration card holders can contact their nearest ration dealer to complete their e-KYC. E-KYC will be done there through Aadhaar authentication. If there are any problems, the District Supply Office can also be contacted.
Why is E-KYC necessary?
E-KYC is essential to avail the benefits of government schemes and rations. If a ration card holder does not complete e-KYC on time, their name may be removed from the ration distribution system. In this case, they may be deprived of the benefits of government schemes and subsidized food grains.
