Ration Card New Update: Food Support Announced for These ₹1.20 Lakh Income Families, Check Details

There is great news for ration card customers. Also, for those who are thinking of making a new ration card in the new year, then today’s report is for them. The Delhi government has announced that families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.20 lakh will now be given ration cards. Till now, this limit was Rs 1 lakh annually. The Delhi government’s cabinet has approved this proposal.

Big announcement on rationing by the government

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that food security is not a favor, but the right of the poor. The income limit has been increased to ensure that no needy person goes hungry due to mere system errors. The Chief Minister said that under the new rules, families with an annual family income of up to Rs 1.20 lakh will now come under food security.

An income certificate issued by the revenue department will be required for this. This will end the self-verification system. The government will soon start processing pending ration card applications under this scheme. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also said that the “first come, first served” system has now been scrapped.

Common people will benefit

It is learnt that despite the low income limit, 3.89 lakh people have been waiting for ration cards for years and their applications are pending. Besides, 11.65 lakh people are waiting to come under the food security cover.

How to apply for the Ration card 2026

To register for this card, families living below the poverty line in rural areas can register by visiting the ration shop or office in the area. If they are registered for this card, they will be able to buy rice and other items from the ration shop at a lower price, except for wheat.

To register for this card, you need a poverty line certificate, PAN card, proof of residence in the village, a customer’s photo, and an identity card.

To view the list of ration cards, go to the main page of the National Food Security site and click on ration cards. After registering your state, district, etc. here, you will get this list in PDF format. Once your name is listed under this card, the customer will get free rice and wheat from the state government.
