Ration Card – Good news for Ration Card holders. The government has provided relief to cardholders deprived of rations. Cardholders who missed out on September’s rations will now be able to collect their rations until October 15th. Ration distribution for the month of October has also begun. Meanwhile, the district supply department is strictly monitoring ration distribution in view of the Diwali festival.

According to the District Supply Department, approximately 1,036 ration shops operate in the district. 1.45 lakh State Food Scheme (SFY), 2.20 lakh Primary Family Welfare (PHS), and 15,172 Antyodaya cardholders receive rations from these shops each month.

Meanwhile, distribution of rations for the month of October began across the district at 3 pm on Friday. However, the Government of India has extended the distribution date to provide relief to consumers who were deprived of rations by the end of September due to some reason.

Such cardholders will now be able to collect their ration from the respective shops until October 15. Furthermore, ration for the month of October will also be distributed to them simultaneously.

Ration distribution affected due to rain and disaster

Due to the heavy rains and disasters in the district in September, a large number of cardholders were deprived of their rations. In many locations, e-pass machines were unable to operate due to network issues.

Meanwhile, due to broken roads, ration could not be delivered from warehouses to many ration dealers. This deprived a large number of cardholders of their rations. Consequently, the Government of India has now extended the distribution date and ensured that rations reach cardholders.

Under the State Food Scheme, cardholders receive 7.50 kilograms of rice at the rate of 11 rupees per kilogram. However, two kilograms of wheat and three kilograms of rice are provided free of charge per unit on the Primary Family Card, and 21,300 kilograms of rice and 13,700 kilograms of wheat are provided free of charge on the Antyodaya Card.

DSO KK Agarwal said that cardholders who were deprived of rations for the month of September can now receive their rations. Ration distribution for the month of October has also begun. Strict action will be taken against ration shopkeepers for any complaints of negligence or irregularities in ration distribution.
